What is syphilis?
Treponema pallidum, subspecies pallidum or syphilis is a bacteria that is transmitted through unprotected, vaginal, oral or anal sexual contact. Although it is classified as a sexually transmitted disease, syphilis can also be transmitted from mother to fetus or blood transfusions.
How is this infection transmitted?
The risk factors for this disease are multiple:
